UC Davis Calls for General Strike (and other general assembly news)


DAVIS, California – The thousands of students, faculty, and workers holding a General Assembly in the UC Davis quad passed by a call for a education wide General Strike for Monday by 99.5%.

The second proposal–disbanding UCPD–did not pass, though it had the support of 60% of the general assembly. The proposal was tabled to be revised, taking into account comments and critiques made yesterday. Many women and people of color spoke out elucidating the many ways cops’ presence on campus did not make them feel safer.
